- Raducanu withdraws from Kooyong
- Recent injuries affect performance
- Australian Open preparation continues
On Thursday, Emma Raducanu withdrew from the Kooyong Classic. The former US Open champion was initially set to face Mirra Andreeva, aged 16, in the Melbourne suburbs on Thursday, but the match has been canceled.
A charity match earlier in the week was also canceled, and she reportedly felt “sore” following Monday’s practice.
Raducanu will continue her preparations for the Australian Open, marking only her second tournament back after the devastating wrist and ankle surgery that halted her 2023 campaign.

Last week in Auckland, the British player, ranked No. 299 but using a protected classification to qualify for her first Grand Slam of the year, returned to the tournament but was defeated by Elina Svitolina in the second round.
Since her breakthrough victory in 2021, Raducanu has faced a multitude of injury issues. She concluded last week’s match against Svitolina with her right leg strapped. Since then, the 21-year-old has trained at Melbourne Park for the tournament’s main draw next week.
