Kalvin Phillips’s miserable loan tenure at West Ham reached a new low when, following Saturday’s 4-3 loss to Newcastle, he was captured on camera engaging in an angry exchange with supporters.

Since joining Manchester City in January, the England international has struggled to rediscover his form and conceded a contested penalty shortly after entering the game from the St. James’ Park bench. The Magpies prevailed on the scoreboards thanks to a double from Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak, who scored his second successful penalty of the match in the 69th minute after the Hammers had taken the lead 3-1.

A social media video features a spectator who yells “Useless!” as Phillips decks the team coach following the game. Phillips is visibly observed through the vehicle’s windscreen as he raises his middle finger towards the spectators. West Ham has declined to comment on the incident.

Regarding his substitution of Phillips in the second half, David Moyes stated, “I believed that an additional midfielder would provide us with a little more control in the middle of the pitch at that moment. however, it failed miserably.”

The West Ham manager continued, “At the time, I had the impression that they were marginally superior. We led 2-1 and won 3-1, but from that point forward, we had to improve our defence, strength, and difficulty of play.”
