- Nuno to manage Nottingham Forest
- Replaces dismissed Steve Cooper
- Forest seeks improvement, new direction
Nuno Espírito Santo has agreed to assume the managerial position at Nottingham Forest. The club, currently seventeenth in the Premier League and five points above the relegation zone, appointed Nuno, a former head coach of Tottenham and Wolves, to replace Steve Cooper, who was dismissed after one victory in thirteen matches.
Nuno was terminated by the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad in early November, several months after winning the championship there, and is currently unemployed. Spurs were his most recent Premier League club for a dismal seventeen-game tenure, concluding in November 2021.
Before that, Nuno, a client of Jorge Mendes’s agency, guided Wolves to the premier division for three seasons. At the City Ground, the Portuguese are scheduled to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Following five losses and one draw in their last six matches, Forest decided to dismiss Cooper; a formal announcement will follow.
Cooper managed to endure a detrimental 5-0 loss at Fulham and a 1-1 draw at Wolves this month, whereas Forest took action following their 2-0 home loss to Tottenham last Friday. Since early September, the club has only triumphed at home against Aston Villa on November 5.
After discussing the post with Forest, former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner expressed interest.

However, in contrast to Nuno, Glasner’s reasoning lagged behind that of Forest’s proprietor, Evangelos Marinakis. Despite Forest’s attention being drawn to Julen Lopetegui, negotiations with the former Wolves manager failed to advance.
Cooper came perilously close to a sack on multiple occasions since securing promotion via the semifinals in May 2022. Strong fan support appeared to have contributed to his continued employment, but as the fanbase grew more polarised regarding his future, Marinakis determined that a change was required and on Tuesday notified Cooper of his departure.
