The Football Association has announced that no disciplinary action would be taken for an alleged remark made by Jordan Henderson of Liverpool to Gabriel Magalhes of Arsenal.

The FA stated that it launched a “comprehensive inquiry” after receiving a complaint on an incident that occurred during Arsenal’s 3-2 home victory against Liverpool on October 9.

The FA stated in a statement: “The investigation included taking witness statements from the complainant and the accused, as well as from an additional six players who were in the vicinity of the alleged incident, reviewing multiple angles of video footage, and requesting the testimony of independent linguistics experts. None of the witnesses heard the purported remark, and the accused player consistently disputed the allegation.

“Although the FA is certain that the complaint was made in good faith, it is also certain that there is no case to answer. The FA continues to take all claims seriously and urges anyone who believes they have been a victim or witness to abuse to report it through the proper procedures.

The action at Emirates Stadium was momentarily halted as referee Michael Oliver hurried to the sidelines to deal with Mikel Arteta and Jürgen Klopp after an incident broke out in the Liverpool penalty area. After the game, Oliver spoke with both managers again before referring the situation to the FA.

A few days later, Arteta stated that he would “absolutely” endorse Arsenal’s version of events.
