English spirits were not dampened by a complex close to the first day of the Test against India in Hyderabad; Ben Duckett lauded Ben Stokes’ defiant innings, which he said had the potential to be “match-winning” in the final overturn.
Stokes’s calculated 70 off the tail in support helped convert 155 for seven into 246 all out, allaying apprehensions regarding the captain’s fitness for the tour following knee surgery in December of last year.
