- Facebook app back button relocated
- Android users frustrated
- Reverting to previous version possible
In contemporary society, where technology is increasingly utilized to maintain relationships with loved ones and pass the time, nothing is more frustrating than an application crashing.
Suppose, however, that the application is still functioning flawlessly, but a button malfunction prevents you from navigating it as usual.
Consider the millions of Android users who have fallen victim to a technical malfunction while using the Facebook application.
Facebook, owned by Meta, released its most recent update, Version 439, on October 31, 2023.
Users of the social application for Android quickly noticed that the back icon had been relocated from its customary location at the bottom of the screen after the update.
In the past, individuals with Android smartphones could navigate back to the previous interface by simply tapping the button located at the bottom. Apple users, on the other hand, could return by swiping right in the current window.
Conversely, Android users are now compelled to scroll to the top of the screen and select an alternative back icon.
“Start your investing journey with a gift! Claim your free Webull shares.”
Although it may seem like a trivial inconvenience, users of X, formerly Twitter, have been vocal in their outrage, demanding the icon’s return to its original location.
A frustrated Android user pleaded with Facebook, saying, “Please provide us with the back button!”
A fellow irate user exclaimed, “Facebook, whatever you did, reverse the change! I am eager to use the ‘back button’ on my phone.”
Additionally, one user commented, “Please restore the back button; your update stinks.” One user signed off with, “Sincerely, All,” while another asked, “Who dares to relocate the BACK button to the top?! Return it to the bottom, where it functioned properly.”
A final perplexed Android user attached a GIF of comedian Kevin Hart waving his fingers and wrote, “How my fingers look when I forget that the back button on my phone is no longer functional on Facebook while holding it one-handed.”
Despite the revised application generating considerable discontent among its users, there appears to be a glimmer of hope, as there is presently a method by which the ‘chaotic’ new back button placement can be circumvented.
Android users can simply revert to the previous version of the software by accessing the Facebook settings page.
To achieve this, access the settings on your mobile device, navigate to Apps & Notifications, and select See All Apps. Scroll down to Facebook and tap the three dots in the upper-right corner to be prompted to uninstall updates.
Users are currently awaiting a software update that, with any luck, will resolve the issue shortly.
