- iPhone Shutdowns Overnight
- Users Report Alarms Malfunction
- Possible iOS 17 Issue
This week, iPhone users inundated social media with grievances about their devices unexpectedly shutting down at night.
The fact that users report being prompted to enter their PINs first thing in the morning indicates that a spontaneous reboot occurred.
Meanwhile, others have noted a several-hour gap in their iPhone’s iOS battery status graph.
Numerous dissatisfied users have voiced their concerns on Reddit, asserting that the problem has even rendered their alarms non-functional.
If your device is afflicted by this problem, follow these actions.
The news website 9to5Mac was the first to report on the issue when a correspondent discovered that Face ID would not work without initially entering the passcode.
The journalist found on Reddit that they were not alone, as many users had reported similar shutdowns.

“One morning, I abruptly woke up at 5:00 AM, running late for work, and noticed the active alarm screen, but my phone did not notify me,” one Reddit user wrote.
“I assumed I might have overslept, which is odd because that has never happened before.”
“I went to work (from home), and my son typically wakes up at 7.30 AM for work. Around 7.50 AM, I observed he wasn’t around the house, so I knocked on his door and found him asleep. He said, ‘I didn’t even hear my alarm.'”
“When I told him what had happened to me, he lifted his phone, which, like mine, displayed the alarm screen.”
“I came to this subreddit directly to see if it was just me,” one user replied. Similarly, neither of my alarms went off this morning.
Another individual responded, “Dude, mine didn’t either. What the heck.”
To check if the iPhone was powered off overnight, open the Settings application and go to the Battery section.
The iOS device’s battery health graph shows the current battery status over the past twenty-four hours.
The presence of a hiatus may indicate that your iPhone was deactivated during the night.
“Examine the battery section.” Does it indicate that the phone was inactive for several hours? This morning, my alarm went off, but it required my passcode to deactivate, and it indicated that it had been turned off around 1:00 a.m. “Many people experienced this yesterday,” a Reddit user commented.
It seems that various iPhone models are affected by the issue, not just the new iPhone 15 lineup.
This implies that the issue might be confined to the iOS 17 software as opposed to the underlying hardware.
Apple has regrettably not yet responded to the issue.
