A second without your phone or laptop in sight might feel like an eternity to many people.
However, a frightening model may motivate you to spend less time on your electronic devices.
Mindy is a monstrous model that, according to its creators, provides a peek at what humanity may look like in less than 800 years due to our reliance on technology.
Mindy ‘may be the human of 3000 and beyond’ because of her stooped posture, broad neck, clawed hand, and the second set of eyelids.
Toll-Free Forwarding designed Mindy as a visual representation of how technology impacts our bodies.
“We sourced scientific literature and expert opinion on the topic before collaborating with a 3D designer to develop a future person whose body has physically transformed as a result of regular usage of smartphones, laptops, and other technology,” the statement stated.
According to the model, years of looking down at our cellphones or up at our computer screens will result in a stooped posture.
As a result of constantly grasping our iPhones, our hands will develop a permanent claw-like morphology.
Dr. Nikola Djordjevic of Med Alert Help revealed to Toll-Free Forwarding, “The way we hold our phones might induce strain in certain areas of contact, resulting in “text claw” or cubital tunnel syndrome.”
In addition to ‘text-claw,’ humans may also experience smartphone elbow,’ a persistent 90-degree angle created by the common arm position when using a device.
Dr. Djordjevic continued, “Keeping the elbow bent for an extended period, most commonly while holding your phone, can strain and put pressure on the nerve behind the elbow.”
According to the model, spending hours staring down at our phones will result in not only bent backs but also larger necks.
Dr. K. Daniel Riew from the New York-Presbyterian Orch Spine Hospital noted, “When you are working on a computer or gazing down at your phone, the muscles in the back of your neck must contract to hold your head up.”
“The more you gaze down, the harder your muscles must work to hold your head up.
These muscles can become excessively fatigued and uncomfortable from using cell phones, tablets, and laptops for the duration of the workday.
Other bizarre characteristics include a bigger skull, a smaller brain, and a second eyelid to prevent excessive light exposure.
Kasun Ratnayake from the University of Toledo stated, “Humans may have a larger inner eyelid to minimize exposure to excessive light, or the lens of the eye may have evolved to block incoming blue light but not other high wavelength lights such as green, yellow, or red.”
Mindy is the successor to Emma, the ill coworker of the future, who was constructed in 2019 to emphasize the significance of a healthy working environment.
After interviewing over 3,000 employees about their health issues and concerns, researchers developed Emma.
She has a permanently stooped posture from spending hours a day slumped over her desk, dry, red eyes from continuous exposure to a computer screen, and a sallow complexion from being exposed to artificial light for years.
