The leaders of the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, and France will talk about the situation in the Middle East and the conflict in Ukraine.
Sir Keir Starmer will fly to Germany on Friday to meet with Joe Biden, Olaf Scholz, and Emmanuel Macron to discuss the Middle East crisis.
The leaders of the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, and France will meet to discuss the increasing humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza, where the UN has warned that basic supplies for survival are running low, as well as the need for a hostage solution and de-escalation, Downing Street announced.
The meeting comes a day after Israel said that it had killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who is suspected of masterminding the 7 October 2023 assault that sparked the war.
In a statement issued before departing for Germany, Sir Keir stated that the United Kingdom “will not mourn his death.”
Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the terrorist group Hamas, was responsible for the bloodiest day in Jewish history since the Holocaust, when 1,200 Jews were slaughtered in Israel, according to the prime minister.
Today, my sympathies are with the families of the victims. The United Kingdom will not grieve his demise.
The release of all hostages, an immediate ceasefire, and an increase in humanitarian aid are long overdue in order to achieve long-term, sustainable peace in the Middle East.
US President Joe Biden called Sinwar’s death a “good day for Israel, the United States, and the world,” with officials in Washington expressing cautious confidence that his death may remove a crucial stumbling block in ceasefire talks that have yet to yield a breakthrough.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that the government will continue to battle until all Israeli hostages are free, and that it will maintain control of Gaza long enough to prevent Hamas from re-arming.
Mr Netanyahu stated in his statement announcing Sinwar’s death, “Our war has not yet ended.”
The Gaza war is already more than a year old, with Israel killing over 42,000 Palestinians in response to Hamas’ incursion last year, according to the Gaza health ministry.
When Hamas militants infiltrated Israel on October 7, they killed around 1,200 people and took approximately 250 captives.
The leaders will also examine the recent developments in Ukraine, following the presentation of President Zelenskyy’s victory plan to the country’s parliament earlier this week.
