Pakistan: Forty deaths after bus plunges into ravine

After falling down the slope, the bus crashed into a column and caught fire. According to officials, among the victims were children.

Local media said that forty people perished after a bus crashed into a ravine in Balochistan, Pakistan.

The incident occurred in Lasbela, a hilly location in the country’s south.

The bus had 44 passengers onboard.

Hamza Anjum Nadeem, the assistant commissioner of Lasbela, stated that the bodies of 40 persons, including women and children, have been retrieved, while four injured passengers have been rescued.

He stated, “The accident occurred owing to excessive speed, and the bus collided with a bridge pillar.”

It quickly caught fire after landing in the ravine.

The officer stated that the bodies were irretrievably burned and were being sent to Karachi for DNA analysis.

He stated that after identification, they will be given to the relatives of the victims.

Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, the chief minister of Balochistan, expressed his sadness for the loss of life and instructed the authorities to give the injured the most advanced medical care.

On the same day as this occurrence, a boat capsized in northwest Pakistan, killing ten children.
