- Aston Martin unveils £330k Vanquish, 214mph top speed
- Features powerful V12 engine, enhanced luxury, and tech
- Limited production, highly customizable, ultra-luxury sports car
Aston Martin has unveiled its fastest-ever production car, the new £330,000 ‘howling’ Vanquish, which boasts a top speed of well over 200mph.
The historic British sports car manufacturer believes the resurrection of the famed Vanquish name and a strong, politically incorrect V12 engine will be used to maintain some old-school ‘halo’ model for the brand in an electrified generation.
It is also technically the first new car launched under the reign of new Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark, who joined from Bentley and officially took up his new position on Sunday.
Aston Martin said it will produce approximately 1,000 V12 Vanquish vehicles annually, with order books open for first deliveries later this autumn.
The new Vanquish accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds thanks to a powerful 835 horsepower twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine coupled to an eight-speed automated gearbox.
The peak speed, however, is the standout performance statistic.
That’s because the two-door coupe has a top speed of 214 mph, making it the fastest Aston Martin available with indicators and number plates.
The peak speed is officially 15% faster than any previous model from the British manufacturer.
However, driving around daily will be fine without a weakened motor.
It sits on 21-inch forged alloy wheels with noise-cancelling Pirelli tyres, which can reduce interior noise by up to 50%.
The Vanquish also introduces a newly designed chassis with an 80mm larger wheelbase to improve ride comfort and interior space.
According to Aston Martin executives, the third-generation Vanquish is the most potent flagship in the company’s 111-year history, setting a new standard for “refined comfort, supercar performance, and pinpoint dynamics.”
It also features a clever ‘boost-reserve’ function for ‘enhanced power delivery’ to give it more punch – and a roaring exhaust pipe noise to match.
Aston Martin explained how the ‘boost reserve’ technology works, saying it rises and effortlessly balances turbo boost pressure above what is generally necessary for any given throttle position so it is ‘ready to go when full power is needed.
The company states, “When the driver demands full power and torque, the throttle releases the accumulated boost pressure for immediate response.”
“Our sensational new halo model marks a comeback for the legendary Vanquish name,” Aston Martin stated at the car’s launch in Venice.
The brand stated, ‘With manufacture limited to around 1,000 instances yearly, this icon will continue to rule in ultra-luxury exclusivity’.
Aston Martin says the exterior appearance of the new Vanquish aims to blend contemporary elegance with a well-toned physique, a broad stance, fluid curves, and muscular rear haunches.
Its tear-shaped design has a lightweight extruded aluminium body and carbon fibre panels.
For the first time, the new Vanquish features a full-length panoramic glass roof as part of its ultra-luxury cabin, which, in a welcome departure from many car manufacturers’ current tendency, prioritises functional physical knobs and buttons over over-reliance on a distracting touch screen.
The extra 8cm wheelbase stretches the bonnet for a ‘rakish and indulgent profile’ that expresses a beautiful sensation of speed and power while drawing on the company’s motorsport roots.
The more aggressive design includes:
- An all-new front bumper.
- A larger grille.
- New daytime running lights.
- A modified side-strake in bright chrome against a gloss back panel.
Flush-fit door handles now deploy electronically towards the hand with a single press of the handle or remote key.
A full-width rear diffuser controls low-pressure airflow beneath the automobile, increasing high-speed stability.
The new Vanquish’s ‘fantastic V12 howl’ is also projected by a newly built stainless steel exhaust system, with the option of an improved titanium version.
It states: “Engine sound character is something for which the Vanquish name is synonymous.” The exhaust character can be altered from a relaxing, refined V12 tone in GT mode to an increasingly full-blooded, bold, and assertive sound character when Sport and Sport+ modes are selected, either by changing the drive mode or pressing the exhaust button.
‘A separate exhaust button enables the driver to modify the sound quality independently of the dynamic mode.’
Inside, the Vanquish prioritises craftsmanship, luxury, and functional technology, with a concentration on buttons, dials, and knobs, where they outperform distracting touchscreens.
The manufacturer says: ‘In an era of technology where touchscreens can dominate the interior, Vanquish continues integrating technology with tactile surfaces that keep the sensation of luxury and are easy to use while driving.
‘To this purpose, all major driver controls are prominently positioned, keeping commonly used functions close at hand and reinforcing the clarity and simplicity of a driver-focused design.’

The centre console has been dropped into a horizontal plane to provide clarity, space, and luxury.
A 10.25-inch driver display is intended to give information ‘with the greatest clarity’.
The similarly sized central touchscreen system, which supports single and multi-finger gesture control, manages all infotainment, climate, and general car settings.
According to Aston Martin, these are ‘well balanced’ with the tactility of solid metal rotary dials, rollers, and exposed fixings that are cold to the touch. This emphasises that these physical switches and buttons are retained for the key mechanical operations of gear selection, drive selection, heating, and ventilation.
‘There are also override switches for chassis, ESP and exhaust, lane assist, and park distance control, ensuring that the most commonly used features can be managed intuitively and without taking your eyes off the road.’
Buyers can also personalise their automobiles through the unique ‘Q by Aston Martin’ customisation service, raising the final price above £400,000 and closer to £500,000.
