My friend from Suffolk, Naomi, asked with sparkling eyes, “Have you tried the honey salted caramels by B Chocolates?” “No,” I replied, at once eager to try something new and embarrassed that I had never heard of them. Naomi stated, “These are the best caramels I’ve ever tasted.”
People frequently tell me that something is the best they’ve ever tasted, so I was mildly interested. But something about Naomi’s sincerity intrigued me. Therefore, I purchased some from this tiny company: coffee caramels for £5 for twenty, mixed caramels for £5.75 for six (two honey and sea salt, two pecan, and two chocolate), and caramel and nougat bars for £5.75 for two.
The coffee caramels were acceptable, but not my favorite; there was too much chocolate relative to caramel. But when I tasted the mixed caramels, all I could say was… OMG! The caramels are now the best I’ve ever tasted. The honey sea salt was out of this world (you can also buy a box of just these for £11 for 15, and I’m tempted to do so). Everything about these was perfect, including the chocolate-to-caramel ratio and the chewiness, which is so difficult to achieve.
Then I sampled the caramel and nougat bars with hazelnuts, which I can only describe as “die-in-your-seat” delicious. Consider a posh Topic bar. I cannot believe I had never heard of them, nor that they are from my county, nor that I will be ordering so many of them.
