Sam Smith ‘heartbroken’ after cancelling Manchester show four songs in.

Sam Smith has apologized for abandoning a Manchester concert after only four tracks due to “vocal issues.”

The 31-year-old launched the AO Arena show with Unholy after teasing a “surprise” on social media hours earlier.

Fans were left confused when the venue went dark, the concert ended, and the performer departed the stage.

The audience was then informed that Smith was experiencing “vocal issues.” The celebrity subsequently posted that they were “heartbroken”

Smith, who uses they/them pronouns, explained on Instagram that they had contracted a virus a few weeks before the European segment of their tour, but had not felt ill until the beginning of Wednesday’s performance.

“Today during soundcheck I felt great and was ecstatic to give Manchester an incredible show tonight, complete with a special surprise,” they wrote.

“During my third song, I noted that my voice was off. I hoped it was just my voice waking up for the performance, but by the fourth song I knew something was seriously awry.”

Smith continued, “Since leaving the stage, I have attempted everything to get my voice back in shape, but to no avail. I am truly devastated that I could not complete the show for you all tonight. And I adore you all. “I apologize, apologize, apologize.

The venue’s attendees expressed their displeasure on social media.

Rach Payne tweeted, “Devastated [the] Sam Smith show has been canceled after four songs.” The performance was on its way to becoming a spectacular one.

“What a tremendous tragedy! Take care, Sam Smith, you sound incredible!” said Stephen Donne,

“Absolute disappointment. Will Dennigan added, “Hope Sam Smith is healthy and able to perform again soon at full strength.”

Smith, a Brit and Grammy Award winner known for songs such as Too Good at Goodbyes and I’m Not the Only One, earned his third UK number-one album with Gloria earlier this year.

They recently canceled a performance in Glasgow and rescheduled one in Birmingham due to health concerns.
