The Eurovision community was thrown into disbelief when singer Olly Alexander unveiled the chorus of his song “Dizzy,” which he will perform in May on behalf of the United Kingdom at this year’s song contest.

Ahead of Years and Years, the erstwhile lead singer uploaded to social media twenty seconds of the club-friendly, pulsating pop track.

Additionally, he declared that the complete track would be accessible on 1 March.

Despite having only heard a brief excerpt, some admirers began to speculate as to whether it might end the United Kingdom’s lengthy wait for victory.

“CERTAINLY THE WINNER OF EUROVISION,” exclaimed one Instagram user.

“Dizzy sounds incredible; it will be added to my playlist immediately,” another user on X wrote.

“However,” they continued, “I never imagined the United Kingdom winning Eurovision with this performance, and it certainly won’t. I’m not sure if it will even make the top five. It must be meticulously staged and convincingly sung!”

Rylan, a co-host, was in possession of an advance copy. “I’ve been singing this for months; it’s sooooo catchy,” he commented.

Alexander can be seen performing the song at night on a rooftop. The video shows him wearing a pinstripe skort, a jacket with trimmed sleeves, and a homemade rosette badge.

He sings, “Will you take my hand and spin me around and around until the moment never ends, or will your kisses leave me dizzy?”

This song fulfils his December promise that it would be techno and danceable.

Alexander and Danny L. Harle, who has produced songs for Dua Lipa, Chic, and Charli XCX, collaborated on the composition.

Last year, the United Kingdom placed second-to-last in Eurovision. Alexander will attempt to build upon that performance. Mae Muller placed second-to-last.

Since 1997, the United Kingdom has failed to secure victory, and its recent performance has been predominantly lacklustre.

Several hours after posting a message with the title and release date, accompanied by a photo of himself inverted on a swing while wearing only a kilt, tattered hosiery, and one shoe, the English singer unveiled a teaser clip.

“Unlock your financial potential with free Webull shares in the UK.”

That may reveal his grand final performance routine for 11 May in Malmo, Sweden.

Music enthusiasts throughout Europe are already familiar with Alexander’s voice from his contributions to Years and Years’ singles “Desire,” “King,” and “If You’re Over Me.”

Additionally, he has been nominated for a Bafta for acting in the main role of the poignant AIDS drama “It’s A Sin,” which aired on Channel 4.
