Singer Anita Pointer, 74, dies

The singer, whose Grammy-winning group had singles including “I’m So Excited”. And “Jump (For My Love),” passed away at her California home accompanied by her family, according to her publicist.

Anita Pointer, a Grammy-winning member of the Pointer Sisters whose singles included “I’m So Excited”. And “Jump (For My Love),” passed away at the age of 74 due to cancer.

Saturday, according to her spokesman Roger Neal, she passed away at her Beverly Hills home surrounded by her family.

The Pointer Sisters, comprised at various periods of Bonnie. Anita, June, and Ruth, were formed in Oakland, California, in the 1970s. And she achieved their initial popularity.

In 1994, the trio received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and three Grammy Awards.

Ruth is the only sister still alive

June passed away in 2006. While Bonnie, who left the group in 1977 to pursue a solo career, died at the age of 69 in 2020.

In 2003, after Anita’s daughter Jada passed away, she began raising her granddaughter, Roxie McKain Pointer.

“While we are extremely heartbroken by Anita’s passing. We are comforted to know that she is now at peace with her daughter Jada. And her sisters June and Bonnie,” the family wrote in a statement.

She was the one who kept us all together and closes for so long. Her affection for our family will endure in each of us.”
