Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden revealed that her latest health examination showed “no evidence of disease” after breast cancer treatment.

On Friday, Dowden informed her 656,000 Instagram followers of the good news, which she described as her “greatest achievement to date” and “the words I had always longed for” from the doctors.

Since 2017, the 33-year-old has been a professional competitor on Strictly Come Dancing. She explained that she will need monthly injections and regular check-ups for the next five years until she gets the all-clear.

However, she went on to express gratitude to her family, friends, and supporters, including her husband, Ben Jones, and stated, “Words I never thought I’d hear at one point.”

Dowden, from Caerphilly, South Wales, revealed in May last year that she had undergone a mastectomy following a diagnosis of stage three breast cancer.

She told her followers in July that she had been diagnosed with “another type of cancer” before starting chemotherapy in August of the previous year.

She described the impact of the illness in a Friday post: “Chemotherapy and the past year have undoubtedly wreaked havoc on my physical and mental health, so I will be dedicating the coming months to recovery and rejuvenation.

“There is so much for which I should strive and live, and I am so grateful for another chance at life!” Something that I am sure not everyone understands.

Undoubtedly, I have changed my perspective on life, and my existence has irrevocably altered.

Additionally, the performer pledged to raise breast cancer awareness and encourage as many people as possible to perform self-examinations for the disease.
