A drunk driver hit 20-year-old Jacob Charles Lewis on his way home from a Taylor Swift performance in Houston.
Taylor Swift admirers have flooded a fundraiser for a 20-year-old fan who was killed on his way home from her Houston, Texas concert.
After his vehicle broke down early Saturday morning, 20-year-old Jacob Charles Lewis was reportedly struck by a suspected intoxicated motorist.
It is believed that he and his sister attended Swift’s Eras Tour concert earlier that evening.
Swift’s admirers have flocked to the GoFundMe page, with many donating $13 or $113 (a nod to Swift’s lucky number 13) and quoting the 33-year-old musician’s lyrics.
To date, over $115,000 has been raised in Mr. Lewis’ memory.
His sister April Bancroft thanked admirers for their donations on Twitter.
“I cannot adequately communicate the gratitude of every Swiftie in existence. Thank you again and again and again. I will eventually peruse your messages, if I haven’t already because they have inspired me so much throughout the day.”
Mr. Lewis was travelling on a sabbatical from Sam Houston State University, where he studied musical theatre. In addition, he participated in the Pokemon world championships.
Swift has performed 13 of 52 scheduled shows on the US leg of the Eras Tour, which was announced following the release of her tenth studio album Midnights.
A 34-year-old male has been charged by the Houston police department about the incident.
