The celebrity couple announced their divorce earlier this month, followed by Game Of Thrones actress Sophie Turner filing a lawsuit against the Jonas Brothers for the return of their two young children to the United Kingdom. Now, a temporary consent order will keep the children in New York for the time being.

According to documents obtained by NBC News, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have agreed to temporarily keep their two young children in New York.

Earlier this month, the Jonas Brothers vocalist filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones star.

The couple has consented to an interim consent order barring them from removing their children “from the jurisdictions of the United States District Courts for the Southern & Eastern Districts of New York” until the court issues a final ruling on a petition filed by Turner on Thursday.

Turner claimed Jonas was refusing to give over the children’s passports, accusing him of “abducting” them and preventing them from returning to the United Kingdom just weeks after their divorce became public.

Turner’s earlier court documents, filed in the Southern District of New York, stated that the couple’s children, born in 2020 and 2022, have been unlawfully kept in New York City since September 20 despite “their habitual residence” being in England.

Jonas denied this and said the Florida divorce court “restricts both parents from relocating the children” and Turner was aware of this ruling.

According to his representatives, if Jonas had turned over the children’s passports, he would have “violated the Florida court order.”

The children, who have dual citizenship, are currently in the custody of their father in New York, where they will remain until the court makes its next decision.

According to court documents, the celebrity couple made England their permanent residence in April in part to have their children educated there.

Due to Turner filming a new drama series in the United Kingdom in May, the children would travel with Jonas and a carer when he began his tour with the Jonas Brothers in the United States in late July.

After flying to New York in mid-September, the actress who portrayed Sansa Stark in Game Of Thrones was apparently planning to return to the United Kingdom with her children.

In a joint statement released earlier this month, the former couple characterized their divorce as “amicable” and “mutually decided” after “four wonderful years of marriage.”
