By sharing a photo of the Fairytale Of New York singer in the hospital, the spouse of The Pogues’ vocalist Shane MacGowan extended “prayers and love” to those who are “struggling.”

Victoria Mary Clarke expressed gratitude to those who had tweeted previously and disclosed that Spider Stacy and Terry Woods, two of the singer’s bandmates, had recently paid him a visit.
The Irish journalist penned, “Prayers and affection for all those who are currently experiencing difficulty; persevere!”
MacGowan, 65, was observed in the new photograph while in a hospital bed equipped with a respiratory apparatus. It is believed that he had been in intensive care for the past few months.
A year ago, he received a diagnosis of viral encephalitis.
Encephalitis is a devastating condition characterized by inflammation of the brain. It is potentially fatal and requires immediate hospitalization.
On Saturday, Ms. Clarke stated on Instagram that she was “confronted with terrifying fears of loss.”

MacGowan’s Ongoing Struggle and Resilience
Other health issues have beset MacGowan in recent years. Since 2015, when he fractured his pelvis, he has been confined to a wheelchair.
An accident in 2021 caused him to fracture his knee, followed by ligament tears in his left leg.
His injury-related recovery was incomplete, and he declared in April that he “no longer has the ability to walk.”
Likewise, MacGowan has been candid regarding his struggle with addiction.
Because his natural teeth had been irreparably damaged by decades of alcohol and drug abuse. He underwent a comprehensive dental implant procedure in 2015.
