De Niro called her accusations “complete nonsense” in testimony characterized by reporters as “grumpy” and “grouchy.”
She is allegedly misusing company funds and using her workplace to stream Netflix.
“With Good Reason”
The double Oscar winner has also filed a lawsuit against his longtime executive assistant, Ms. Robinson. A two-week trial in New York is currently hearing both parties’ arguments.

On Monday, De Niro was called as the initial witness and was questioned regarding allegations that he commanded her to remain available at all times and assigned her “any task and everything.”
The actor responded, “Within the parameters of her profession and within reason, I requested that she do anything,” as reported by Deadline. He then “snapped at the attorney.”
He stated that she was responsible for making travel arrangements, making reservations, and purchasing presents for family and friends. She has also reported that he requested that she mend clothes, do the laundry, and massage his back.
“I’m not exactly suggesting that she mop or scrape floors,” he explained to the court.
He stated that he would only contact Ms. Robinson during “civilized” hours, with the exception of one occasion when he needed her assistance getting to the hospital after an accident at 4:00.
According to the Associated Press, he “angrily snapped” in response to the question. “That was one time when I cracked my back falling down the stairs!”
Additionally, Ms. Robinson has claimed that De Niro and his company Canal Productions permitted the actor’s associate Tiffany Chen to “target her with false accusations regarding a romantic interest in De Niro,” resulting in her termination from her position as a retaliatory measure.
The Judge’s Warning
“Everyone should be pleased and behave amicably,” he reportedly told the Hollywood Reporter. “Unfortunately that didn’t happen.”
According to the source, at one point, Judge Lewis J. Liman instructed De Niro and Ms. Robinson’s attorney to communicate more slowly and refrain from raising their voices.
In 2008, Ms. Robinson was promoted from assistant to the actor to vice president of production and finance at Canal.
Before leaving in 2019, she said he called her a “office wife” and made “vulgar, inappropriate, and gendered remarks”. De Niro, who contradicts her claims, is scheduled to provide further testimony on Tuesday.

Ms. Robinson is suing the actor for $12 million (£9.8 million) for acute mental distress and reputational harm.
Canal filed a $6 million (£4.9 million) lawsuit against Ms. Robinson, alleging that she unlawfully transferred airline miles worth over $450,000 (£370,000) to her personal account, spent tens of thousands of dollars of company funds on food, travel, and other personal services, and binge-watched Netflix while at work.
According to Deadline, her attorneys have stated that his lawsuit is replete with “false allegations intended to impede Ms. Robinson from pursuing her claims, destroy her reputation, and eliminate her employment prospects.”
