In an emotional Instagram post, the actor’s eldest daughter Drena from his first marriage to Diahnne Abbott revealed the news. Leandro followed in his mother’s and grandfather’s footsteps by appearing in some well-known films.
Robert De Niro’s “beloved” grandson Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, 19 years old, has perished.
Drena, De Niro’s eldest daughter, announced the news on Instagram on Monday, describing the deceased as a “sweet angel”
In an emotional Facebook post, the 51-year-old conveyed the news. She penned, “My darling angel. I’ve loved you beyond words or description ever since I first felt you in my womb.
You have been my joy, my heart, and everything pure and genuine in my existence. I wish I were with you at this moment. I wish I were there.”
The post continued, “I don’t know how to live without you, but I’ll do my best to continue spreading the love and light that you made me feel as your mother.
“You were so profoundly loved and valued, and I wish that love alone could have saved you. I’m so sorry, my sweetheart. I’m so sorry, @carlosmare. Rest in eternal peace and paradise, my sweet son.”
Robert De Niro stated in a statement, “I am devastated by the demise of my cherished grandson Leo.
“We are extremely appreciative of everyone’s condolences. We respectfully request privacy to mourn the loss of Leo.”
Drena did not provide any additional information about Leandro’s demise.
The family received an outpouring of support and condolences in response to the post.
The film director Lee Daniels expressed his condolences by saying, “Drena, may GOD keep you in his arms.”
Rosie Perez, an actress, wrote: “Shocked! I’m truly apologetic! Everyone is here for you! I adore you too much.”
Leandro Mare’s father, Carlos Mare, has not yet commented but has posted a blacked-out Instagram photo.

Robert De Niro’s offspring
During his marriage with Diahnne Abbott, Robert De Niro adopted Drena as his daughter. She was the offspring of Abbott’s previous marriage.
In May of this year, at the age of 79, the actor from The Godfather welcomed his seventh child, Gia.
De Niro is also the father of 46-year-old Raphael, with his first wife, Abbott.
Julian and Aaron were born during his second marriage to Toukie Smith. The brothers are 27 years old.
In 1998, Grace Hightower, who was then De Niro’s wife, gave birth to their second son, Elliot. De Niro revealed Elliot has autism in 2016.
In 2011, De Niro gave birth to Helen via surrogate. Helen is now 11.
De Niro has three additional grandchildren, who are Raphael’s offspring.
