Blac Chyna sued the Kardashian family for $108m (£77m) for slander earlier in 2022, but she lost and was given no damages. The second trial against her ex-boyfriend Rob Kardashian was scheduled to commence, but an agreement was reached at the last minute.
Chyna had accused her ex-boyfriend Rob Kardashian of releasing nude images of her in a harmful manner in 2017 after their relationship ended.
According to court documents seen by the PA news agency, the parties have now notified the judge that they have settled. Jury selection had been scheduled to begin on Monday in preparation for a trial, but the parties have now informed the judge that they have settled.
It follows Chyna and the Kardashians’ defamation trial from earlier in 2022.
Chyna, whose legal name is Angela White, claimed that Rob Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner, and three of his famous sisters, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner, defamed her as violent and unstable, and allegedly convinced producers and executives to cancel her reality show, Rob & Chyna.
Chyna had demanded $108m (£77m) in damages, but the Kardashians, whom all testified at the trial, won the case and she received no compensation.
Although jurors determined that the Kardashians acted in bad faith when discussing the couple’s problems with Rob & Chyna’s producers and executives from the E! network, they also determined that this had no significant impact on Chyna’s contract or the destiny of the show.
Rob Kardashian, who has a child with Chyna, was not a defendant in that trial, but he and the Kardashian women also testified.
Chyna initially filed a single case against the entire Kardashian family, but the judge ordered that Rob Kardashian’s allegations, which included assault allegations, should be tried separately.
After the verdict in the first trial, attorneys for the Kardashian and Jenner families “expressed gratitude” to the jury and praised Judge Gregory Alarcon’s “calm hand.”
“The jury has sent Ms. White and her counsel a clear message – I hope they are listening,” the attorneys said in a statement. Justice has triumphed.
Rob and Kris Kardashian were expected to be the only witnesses at the second trial, had it occurred.
