According to police, a Puerto Rican judge has issued a restraining order against Ricky Martin.
It is unknown who requested the restraining order against the Puerto Rican singer, and no additional information has been made public because the order was filed under domestic violence law.
Axel Valencia, a police spokesman, stated that the order was signed on Friday after authorities visited the singer’s neighborhood in the northern coastal town of Dorado in an attempt to serve the order.
Mr. Valencia stated, “The police have been unable to locate him to this point.”
The publicist for the Livin’ La Vida Loca singer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
It is unknown who requested the restraining order, and no additional information has been disclosed, as the order was filed under Puerto Rico’s domestic violence statute.
The order states that Martin and the other party were in a relationship for seven months before their breakup two months ago, as reported by El Vocero.
The report quotes the order as stating that the petitioner asserts Martin did not accept the separation and has been spotted at least three times near the petitioner’s residence.
“The petitioner fears for his safety,” the order states, according to El Vocero.
Mr. Valencia stated that the order prohibits Martin from contacting or calling the person who filed it and that a judge will decide whether it should remain in effect or be lifted at a later hearing.
He also noted that the person who requested the restraining order did not contact the police, which would have necessitated a determination by prosecutors as to whether there was sufficient evidence to file charges. Instead, the case went directly to court.
