Billie Eilish, The Killers, and Lewis Capaldi are included in what Reading and Leeds festival organizers refer to as a “genre-defying lineup.”
Sam Fender, Foals, and Imagine Dragons have joined Billie Eilish, The Killers, and Lewis Capaldi as headliners for the Reading and Leeds festivals in 2023.
The headlining slot will make Eilish, who is only 20 years old, the youngest solo artist to ever headline the festivals.
She played there in 2019, receiving one of the festival’s largest crowds.
Tickets for the three-day sister events, taking place from August 25 to August 27, go on sale on Monday at 9 a.m., and additional performers will be revealed.
Foals return as headliners for the first time since 2016; lead singer Yannis Philippakis exclaims that the band is “so pumped.”
He added: “We’ll never forget headlining Leeds in the pouring rain in 2016, a gig that was one of our most intense ever, or climbing the rigging and hurling myself into the audience at Reading in 2008 while feeling possessed.
We’ve always had an incredible and wild experience performing at one of the world’s best festivals.
Winner of the Brit Award Fender stated that he first attended Leeds Festival as a teenager: “The experience was a rite of passage. Ten years later, we’re the main attraction.
“I’m so ecstatic, it’s going to be interplanetary! See you in the front row!”
The Scottish singer-songwriter Capaldi, whose second album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent is scheduled for release the following year, makes his festival headlining debut.
He stated that he was “overjoyed” to be on the bill.
“Unbelievable that my final performance was in 2018 before a small crowd. Looking forward to seeing you all next year!”
In addition to Wet Leg, Declan McKenna, and Inhaler, the lineup includes rappers Slowthai, Tion Wayne, Trippie Redd, and Central Cee.
Becky Hill, Bicep Live, and MK will all perform dance music.
There will also be performances by the Scottish rock band The Snuts, the drum and bass outfit Shy FX, and the top-charting band You Me At Six.
Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, stated that they were “thrilled” to return with “a fantastic, genre-defying lineup that includes some of the very best in contemporary music.”
Once again, Reading & Leeds will be the premier bank holiday festival weekend And we cannot wait to return!
The three-day events return to their traditional locations, Reading’s Richfield Avenue and Leeds’s Bramham Park.
