The actor perished at the age of 67 while filming in the Dominican Republic last year.
The cause of Ray Liotta’s death was disclosed one year after the 67-year-old Goodfellas actor passed away.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the actor passed away from acute cardiac failure and respiratory issues.
Jennifer Allen, his representative at the time, stated that he passed away in his slumber.
When he passed away, he was in the Dominican Republic filming Dangerous Waters.
Liotta was engaged, and his fiancee was present while he labored on the project.
Doctors classified the actor’s demise as “natural and non-violent” and cited heart failure, respiratory insufficiency, and pulmonary oedema as the causes.
The documents also stated that Liotta suffered from atherosclerosis, a condition in which fatty deposits accumulate in the arteries, narrowing them and increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Liotta is best known for his portrayal of real-life gangster Henry Hill in the 1990 gangster classic Goodfellas.
His career was still very active at the time of his death. Before his passing, he completed The Many Saints of Newark, Marriage Story, and No Sudden Move.
Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, and Kevin Costner, among others, paid tribute to the “uniquely gifted” actor after his passing.
