Fans were angered and dissatisfied when hip-hop group N-Dubz abruptly canceled a concert after its opening acts had already performed.
The show, which took place at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, was part of the group’s The Back To The Future tour, which followed their 11-year hiatus.
One fan described feeling “cheated” by the cancellation.
N-Dubz expressed regret but stated that singer Dappy was instructed by physicians to rest and hence would be unable to perform.
Dappy stated on his Instagram account that his voice was “essentially gone” as a result of performing “too many consecutive performances.”
Later, he said in a different story post, “I’m sorry, Nottingham.”
The venue did not acknowledge the cancellation until after the opening artists had performed, with a notice flashed on the main stage’s enormous screen.
Everyone was enraged
Katie Simpson, 21, from Nottingham, stated that she felt “ripped off” by the group and that, following the news, the mood became “very frightening.”
She stated, “Everyone was enraged; they were throwing drinks on the stage and spilling beer everywhere.”
“There was fighting, and others were approaching the stewards to find out what was happening.
They abandoned us five minutes before their performance. They have taken the mickey out of us.”
After the cancellation, Ms. Simpson demanded a refund, stating that she would not attend a rescheduled performance.
Nottinghamshire Police stated that no reports of disturbances had been received.
Some users of social media regarded the news as “horrifying” and “a joke.”
Others questioned why organizers had permitted spectators to attend and the other acts to perform while being aware of Dappy’s health.
Dappy, whose actual name is Costadinos Contostavlos, his cousin Tulisa Contostavlos, and Fazer, whose real name is Richard Rawson, make up the group.
Later, N-Dubz posted on social media: “We’re very sorry we had to cancel tonight’s event.
“We did everything necessary to make the performance happen, but Dappy’s doctor indicated that he was unable to perform and needed to rest tonight.
“The O2 Arena concert is scheduled for tomorrow [23 November] and the remainder of the tour will continue as planned. We will issue a second statement tomorrow morning when Dappy has seen the doctor again.”
