Sir Elton John testified as a defense witness in the sexual assault prosecution of actor Kevin Spacey.
The musician was questioned about Mr. Spacey’s attendance at a party he hosted at his Windsor residence.
Mr. Spacey is accused of sexually assaulting the individual who drove him to the event. He denies attending the gathering in the year claimed by the prosecution.
Between 2001 and 2013, the 63-year-old has pled not guilty to 12 counts of sexual assault against four men.
Sir Elton appeared from Monaco via video link. He responded to queries regarding Mr. Spacey’s attendance at the annual White Tie and Tiara Ball held at the musician’s home.
According to the singer, Mr. Spacey attended in 2001. One of the actor’s accusers testified that a sexual assault occurred on the way to the 2002 gala, which Spacey denies attending.
Regarding the 2001 gala, Sir Elton stated, “Yes, he wore a white tie and arrived directly from a private jet. Yes, I believe he would not wear a white tie otherwise.”
Sir Elton said Mr. Spacey stayed at his Windsor estate after the event, but he didn’t see him again.
David Furnish, the spouse of Sir Elton, testified that he remembered Mr. Spacey attending the event in question, adding, “As an Oscar-winning actor, there was a lot of excitement when he attended the ball.”
Mr. Spacey denies three counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of causing someone to engage in sexual activity against their will.
He denies four more sexual assault accusations and one count of inducing sexual activity without consent.
He denies four more sexual assault counts and one count of forcing sexual activity.
