The disgraced former health secretary appeared to have won over audiences after securing a spot in Sunday’s final, while Mike Tindall was eliminated by voters on Saturday evening.
This year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! final will include Matt Hancock. Former England rugby player Mike Tindall was eliminated from the show as the seventh contestant.
The disgraced ex-health secretary will join Hollyoaks star Owen Warner and ex-England midfielder Jill Scott in Sunday night’s series finale, which will crown the king or queen of the jungle.
The West Suffolk representative surprised expectations after receiving harsh criticism for appearing on the show when the legislature was in session.
Along with the comedian Seann Walsh, who was ousted on Friday, he was a late addition to the reality show and drew mixed reactions from his fellow campmates.
Despite earlier expectations that he might be the first to be voted out due to his handling of the COVID-19 outbreak, Hancock has won over the public.
Tindall stated, hours before his removal, that the politician “obviously wants to win.”
The 44-year-old athlete stated in the Bush Telegraph, “Matt is ensuring that his T-shirt and phone number are always visible.
Matt’s will to win is evident.
“I take great joy in reversing the situation each time he leaves camp.”
Once a politician, always a politician,” he joked. Constantly canvassing for votes
Later, Tindall observed Walsh, “Have you seen that someone has been advertising themselves?
Matt has been labeling all of his belongings with his name and phone number and pointing them toward cameras.
Hancock has urged his followers to vote for him via the hashtag #VoteMatt and tweeted: “Huge thank you to everyone who has voted Matt through to the final” – using the third person.
On Saturday’s show, the final four faced the legendary cyclone challenge, in which the celebrities must climb a treacherous hill obstructed by obstacles to earn camp stars.
Hancock expressed his elation at reaching the final obstacle, telling his competitors, “I never imagined I’d make it to the cyclone.
“I can’t wait, it’s going to be just fantastic!”
Each celebrity was urged to adopt a heroic identity, with Hancock donning a pair of similar metallic hot pants and proclaiming, “I am clinging to life for dear life” as the Bronze Bronco.
Hancock told the hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, “This is the one trial you anticipate!”
Hancock stated, after being rugby tackled by Tindall during the challenge, “I just thought, walk straight up the middle… give the people what they want, a large target, and they loved it.”
“I was then attacked by Mike Tindall.”
He noted that the challenge was “much more enjoyable than it appears.”
An extraordinary journey
Tindall was greeted upon leaving the camp by his wife, Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall.
He stated on his leaving, “I’m very at ease with it. It has been an incredible journey.
“I believe we’ve been incredibly fortunate with the people who have been there and the way the camp has functioned together.
Being a member of a team for a significant portion of my life, I did not anticipate its success.
