- Madonna released from hospital after serious bacterial infection
- World tour postponed due to Madonna’s health condition
- Well-wishes pour in as Madonna’s manager anticipates her complete recovery
Madonna has been released from the hospital, returned home, and is feeling better after a stay in intensive care.
Her manager revealed that she had sustained a “serious bacterial infection” when he revealed news of her illness.
In the coming weeks, the 64-year-old was scheduled to embark on a seven-month world tour, but it has been postponed.
She was transported to her New York residence in a private ambulance, according to a CNN source, who added, “She’s in the clear.”
Madonna, who is extremely private about her health, was in the final phases of rehearsals before embarking on a lengthy world tour.
In two weeks, the Celebration tour was scheduled to commence in Canada before visiting 45 cities around the globe.
It was to be her 12th tour, commemorating forty years in the music industry.
Forbes ranks her as the 45th wealthiest self-made woman in the United States, with an estimated net worth of $580 million (£460 million), and states that she has earned an estimated $1.2 billion from tours.
The singer has received thousands of online messages of support since manager Guy Oseary’s Wednesday statement on her health.
“At this time, we need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour,” Oseary said.
“Once we have more information, we will share it with you, including a new tour start date and rescheduled shows.”
Oseary added in his statement that he anticipated the singer’s “complete recovery.”
Extreme reaction
Doctors said Madonna’s bacterial infection was serious and required careful treatment. Its cause is unknown.
Infections can lead to a potentially fatal condition known as sepsis or blood poisoning.
It is a medical emergency that occurs when the body reacts violently to an infection.
It can cause tissue damage, organ failure, and even mortality if left untreated.
Usually, the primary infection that causes these conditions begins in the lungs, skin, urinary system, or gastrointestinal tract.
Sepsis can occur in anyone with an infection, but it is more likely in individuals who are already weakened, vulnerable, or ill.
The singer has received well wishes from The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, who said he was “sending prayers” and from Desperately Seeking Susan co-star Rosanna Arquette, who sent “love and good light vibrations” for recovery.
Gwendoline Christie, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Ava DuVernay, vocalist and songwriter Ryan Tedder, musician Jon Batiste, blogger Perez Hilton, and model and actress Amber Valetta also sent well wishes.
Ru Paul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage added, “Take care of our queen,” and Wedding Crashers actress Isla Fisher added, “Sending her lots of love.”
The producer, actress, and singer Rita Wilson also wrote: “Sending Madonna my prayers for a speedy recovery.”
Evan Rachel Wood, Rosie Perez, Isla Fisher, and Zooey Deschanel also posted messages of affection and support.
In January, when announcing the tour, Madonna told fans, “I am eager to perform as many songs as possible to give my fans the performance they’ve been waiting for.”
Madonna’s greatest hits include Into The Groove (1985), Like A Prayer (1989), Vogue (1990), and Hung Up (2005).
Madonna, who is typically discreet about her health, was likely finishing her tour rehearsals.
Her 2009 Sticky & Sweet Tour set the Guinness World Record for the highest-grossing female music tour.
American magazine ranks her as the 45th wealthiest self-made woman in the United States, with an estimated net worth of $580 million (£460 million), and claims she has earned an estimated $1.2 billion from tours.
She has six offspring. Her 18.9 million Instagram followers saw her congratulate her twin 10-year-old kids on graduating primary school last week.
Madonna Louise Ciccone was raised in the Michigan city of Detroit. She relocated to New York in 1978 to pursue a career in dance and music.
This year, her older brother Anthony Ciccone, who had struggled with alcoholism and homelessness, perished at the age of 66.
