Lisa Marie Presley stated in an essay published after the death of her son that she had lived with “death, grief, and loss” since she was nine years old, when her father, widely regarded as the greatest rock and roll singer in history, died at the age of 42.
Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of rock and roll superstar Elvis, has passed away, according to a statement released by her mother.
Thursday morning, the 54-year-old woman suffered a heart arrest at her house in Calabasas, California.
“I must deliver the heartbreaking news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has passed away with a sad heart,” her mother, Priscilla Presley, stated.
She was the most ardent, courageous, and loving woman I had ever met.
It followed a previous statement in which the 77-year-old requested prayers for her and her family.
She stated that her daughter was “rushed to the hospital.”
Craig Little, a spokesman for Los Angeles (LA) County’s fire department, stated that paramedics were dispatched shortly before 10:40 a.m. in response to a report of a woman in cardiac arrest.
According to property records, Elvis Presley resided at an address located around 30 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
Before Presley’s death was revealed, her family, including Priscilla and daughter Riley Keough, was photographed outside a hospital in the city.
Too difficult to bear
John Travolta expressed his “heartfelt condolences” to the Presley family.
He wrote, “Lisa, baby girl, I am so sorry.”
“I will miss you, but I believe that we will meet again. My heart and affection are with Riley, Priscilla, Harper, and Finley.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, who worked with Presley on the 2022 biopic Elvis, expressed their “heartbreak” at her passing.
Wilson wrote in a lengthy Instagram post: “During the Elvis film’s promotional tour, Tom and I had spent time with the family. Lisa Marie was very candid and forthright, as well as vulnerable, as she anticipated the film.
“It was a celebration of her father because she spoke so eloquently about him and what the movie meant to her. She was accompanied by her beautiful daughters Finley and Harper, who made us all chuckle.
Diane Warren, a fellow singer, expressed her sorrow at the “terrible news.”
“Oh no. This is such dreadful news “She wrote the text.
“Currently, the entire globe is sending love and prayers to the children of Priscilla and Lisa Marie.
“May it grant you (courage)”
Nancy Sinatra, whose father Frank performed numerous times with Elvis, stated: “Occasionally, I find myself fervently longing for an afterlife, and today is one of those occasions.
Otherwise, the nothingness and emptiness are intolerable.
Lisa Marie Presley’s closing moments
Presley’s death occurred just two days after she attended the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, where she celebrated Austin Butler’s award for best actor in a drama film for his role as her father in the film Elvis, which also included Tom Hanks as Elvis’ manager.
She did interviews on the red carpet, telling Entertainment Tonight that Butler’s “mind-blowing” performance left her speechless.
And just this weekend, Presley was to her father’s former Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, to commemorate his 8 January 1935 birthday.
Elvis Presley, largely regarded as the greatest rock & roll singer in history, died on August 16, 1977, at the age of 42.
At the time, his daughter was nine years old. In 1972, when Elvis and Priscilla Presley divorced, she was four years old.
Three records
Lisa Marie Presley began her musical career in 2003 with the release of her debut album To Whom It May Concern, following in the footsteps of her father Elvis Presley.
It reached the top ten on the US Billboard album chart, as did the 2005 follow-up album Now What.
Seven years passed before her third album, Storm, And Grace was released to favorable reviews.
Her solo career began eight years after she participated in the music video for her then-husband Michael Jackson’s 1995 single You Are Not Alone.
Four marriages
The divorce between Presley and Jackson was finalized in 1996.
It was her second marriage; she was previously married from 1988 to 1994 to musician Danny Keough.
They had two children, the actress and model Riley Keough and Benjamin, and remained close friends.
She wed Jackson within three weeks of her divorce from Keough.
Her third marriage, to actor Nicolas Cage, lasted from 2002 to 2004 and ended in divorce.
In 2006, Presley remarried her guitarist and producer Michael Lockwood. Together, they welcomed identical twin girls, Finley Aaron Love Lockwood and Harper Vivien Ann Lockwood.
Ten years later, she filed for divorce, which was finalized in 2021.
coping with loss
In 2018, Presley was included on a new album titled Where No One Stands Alone. Which was published to honor her father’s passion for gospel music and includes 14 of his original recordings.
The album’s title track was a reinvented duet performed by Lisa Marie and her father.
The previous year, she penned an essay for People magazine on her son Benjamin’s suicide in 2020.
She remarked, “I’ve dealt with death, grief, and loss since I was nine years old.”
“In my lifetime, I’ve got more than my fair share of it, yet I’ve managed to survive.”
