The rapper, who became famous as a nine-year-old for bragging about her wealth and beautiful automobiles, said her account was “compromised”.
A 14-year-old rapper and social media star who was thought dead has confirmed her survival.
A family statement on Lil Tay’s Instagram account on Wednesday said she and her brother died.
However, she told TMZ that her account had been “compromised” and used to spread “jarring misinformation” about her and her sibling.
My brother and I are alive, but I’m heartbroken and can’t speak, her relatives told TMZ.
It’s been a traumatic 24 hours. I received terrible and tearful calls from loved ones all day yesterday while attempting to clean up.”
She added: “A third party hacked my Instagram account and propagated shocking disinformation and rumors about me, even changing my name. My real name is Tay Tian, not “Claire Hope”.
She said she received her Instagram account restored and removed the bogus statement.
The girl’s family’s statement described her “tragic and sudden” death.
Her father Christopher Hope later told Insider he could not confirm the social media star’s death.
Also the magazine was told he couldn’t comment on the Instagram post or say if his daughter was alive.
Harry Tsang, the child’s former manager, told Insider the matter required “cautious consideration” and could not confirm or reject the claim.
The website indicated Los Angeles Police Department, the county medical examiner, and Vancouver Police Department had no information on her death investigation.
Also 3.4 million-follower child became famous online for bragging about her fortune and posing in luxury cars.
She was nine when she was featured in videos declaring herself the “youngest flexer of the century”—a showoff.
Lil Tay, who resided in Vancouver with her family, swore and called her detractors “broke-a** haters”.
