The police are investigating whether or not Ryuchell, age 27, committed suicide.
Ryuchell, a Japanese TV personality, model, and LGBT influencer was discovered deceased in their agency’s offices by their manager.
Wednesday evening in Tokyo, Ryuchell was discovered incapacitated at his office, according to the Japan Times.
The police are investigating whether or not the 27-year-old committed suicide.
Ryuchell was instrumental in popularising the androgynous “genderless kei” fashion style.
In 2016, they wed fellow model Peco, and in 2018, they had a son.
In 2022, Ryuchell declared that they no longer identified as a male or a spouse, and the couple separated.
Peco posted an Instagram photo of their son’s fifth birthday cake shortly before Ryuchell’s body was discovered.
Ryuchell was an outspoken advocate for LGBT rights in Japan, but as their popularity increased, they were targeted on social media for gender nonconformity.
