- Kasabian plans Leicester concert
- Memories and inspiration focus
- Unique past performances highlighted
Kasabian, the Leicester-based band, is well-known for enthusiastically organising concerts in their hometown. They have a history of unique performances, such as playing in a defunct aeroplane and arranging impromptu gigs to celebrate Leicester City’s 2016 Premier League victory.
In their efforts to create unforgettable nights in Leicester, Kasabian expressed their goal of “creating memories” and “inspiring younger artists.”
The band made their significant debut at Victoria Park in June 2014, just days before headlining at Glastonbury. The venue is set to host their events again following a premises license application by Live Nation earlier this year.
Frontman Serge Pizzorno emphasised the importance of creating lasting memories in one’s place of origin, stating, “Observing an event of this nature in your place of origin—the ambiance, the bustle, the melodies—those recollections are what endure as you reflect on your existence; it becomes imperative that you be present; you must not miss it; you cannot permit this to transpire without attending that performance, you understand.”
Bassist Chris Edwards highlighted the significance of contributing to the city’s betterment, especially as Leicester lacks a massive arena, making this hometown venue a special privilege.
Kasabian, known for their extravagant concerts, has previously performed in unconventional locations for Leicester fans.
Pizzorno expressed the importance of showcasing that tremendous performances can happen in Leicester, welcoming their global supporter base to attend.
This announcement comes as their first central native performance since the departure of Tom Meighan in 2020. Pizzorno and Edwards have taken on the lead vocal position, stating, “Everyone has simply moved on.” The band had to cancel their 2020 performance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Leicester concert follows the platinum-selling sixth album, “The Alchemist’s Euphoria,” released in 2022. They will release their seventh installment, “Occurrences,” in 2024.
Tickets for the Leicester concert go on general sale at 9.30 am on Friday, December 8, with a pre-sale starting on Thursday, December 7.
