After being banned from his Instagram account, he turned to Twitter, where he tweeted for the first time in two years on Saturday.

Kanye West’s Twitter and Instagram accounts were suspended over the weekend, with the social media platforms claiming they removed the rapper’s antisemitic statements after receiving complaints from online users.

West’s Instagram account was suspended after a since-removed post in which he allegedly evoked antisemitic tropes by accusing an artist of being controlled by “the Jewish people.”

He shared a grainy photo of the rapper and Facebook founder performing karaoke with the caption: “Consider this Mark How are you going to ban me from Instagram?

Then, West tweeted, “You have messed with me and attempted to blackball everyone who opposes your agenda.”

Twitter Inc.’s decision to ban the rapper’s account was notable because billionaire Elon Musk, who has suggested he would purchase Twitter and describes himself as a free speech absolutist, had greeted West’s return to the platform by tweeting, “Welcome back, my friend!”

Instagram announced on Saturday that temporary posting, commenting, and messaging limits have been placed on West’s account.

A “secret” catwalk event hosted by the rapper at Paris Fashion Week reportedly featured a T-shirt with the message “White Lives Matter.
