Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck got married in front of their children in a Las Vegas chapel over the weekend, 19 years after their original wedding date.
Sunday afternoon, the celebrity couple known as ‘Bennifer’ was married at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas after waiting in line for a license.
Ms. Lopez wore “a frock from an old movie,” whereas Mr. Affleck wore a jacket from his closet, according to an update on Ms. Lopez’s website, On The JLo.
Their children from prior relationships were present to witness them exchange vows.
Ms. Lopez added, “Last night we went to Las Vegas and, together with four other couples, waited in line for a marriage license in the wedding capital of the world.
The two then read their vows in front of “the best witnesses you could ever imagine”.
The marriage ceremony took place at “12.30 a.m. in the tunnel of love drive through,” accompanied by their children from prior relationships, according to the post.
“Love is patient,” Ms. Lopez remarked, “twenty years patient” – a clear reference to the fact that the pair became engaged 18 years before their annulled wedding.
The letter was then signed: “With affection, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”
“I can confirm that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez obtained a marriage license last night, but their marriage certificate has not yet been filed,” County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya, who supervises the Marriage Licence Bureau, told the PA news agency. The permit is good for up to a year.”
Mr. and Mrs. Affleck join Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Hurley, and Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward as A-list couples who have tied the knot in Las Vegas, also known as the Wedding Capital of the World.
We wish Mr. Affleck and Ms. Lopez the same long-lasting romance.
Ms. Lopez confirmed her engagement to Mr. Affleck in her OnTheJLo newsletter in April, 18 years after they had called off their wedding.
The marriage license was issued one year after the couple restarted their romance following Mr. Affleck’s breakup with actress Ana DeArmas and Ms. Lopez’s split from baseball player Alex Rodriguez.
The Hollywood actors began dating in July of 2002 and became engaged in November of the same year.
The wedding was originally scheduled for September 2003 but was postponed just days beforehand.
In the end, they ended their engagement in January 2004.
Ms. Lopez revealed in an Instagram post for her 52nd birthday that she and Mr. Affleck were back together by posting a photo of them kissing on a private yacht.
They have now become red-carpet staples as a pair, attending film premieres and award ceremonies together.
Affleck was formerly married to the actress Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children: Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10. In 2018, after 13 years of marriage, they divorced.
Other previous relationships for Ms. Lopez include her 10-year marriage to musician Marc Anthony. The former couple, who divorced in 2014, share custody of their 14-year-old twins, Emme and Max.
