After sustaining severe burns when one of his historic vehicles caught fire, doctors are optimistic that Leno will recover fully.
Jay Leno was photographed leaving the hospital after receiving treatment for facial injuries he suffered in a garage fire.
The 72-year-old former US talk show presenter stated last week that he suffered “severe burns from a gasoline fire” when one of his classic cars caught fire.
On Monday, Leno was photographed with Grossman Burn Center employees in California. Scarring was visible on his neck and jaw.
Previous photographs of his treatment depicted him bandaged and reclining in a hyperbaric chamber, which employs high-pressure oxygen to accelerate the healing process.
Clinic director Dr. Peter Grossman was “pleased” with Leno’s progress and “optimistic that he will make a full recovery” after more than a week of treatment.
The clinic’s statement said, “Jay would like everyone to know how appreciative he is for the treatment he received and for all the well wishes.
He wishes everyone a good holiday and looks forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with his family and friends.
Leno is one of the most well-known television personalities in America, having hosted the Tonight Show for many years.
He is also well-known for his extensive collection of automobiles and motorcycles, and currently presents the show Jay Leno’s Garage.
In a recent episode, President Joe Biden drove his 1967 Corvette at nearly 100 mph.
