The Fabelmans, an autobiographical film directed by Steven Spielberg, won the award for best drama.
School-based farce Among the television category winners was Abbott Elementary, Game of Thrones precursor House of the Dragon, and satirical dark comedy The White Lotus.
The majority of winners collected their prizes in person, contrary to rumors that many stars would skip this year’s ceremony owing to issues surrounding the Globes’ organization.
Since its organizers, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), were accused of ethical violations and a lack of diversity two years ago, the event has been mired in controversy.
Banshees of Inisherin and Fabelmans win big
The Banshees of Inisherin is set on a lonely island off the west coast of Ireland and chronicles the story of two friends who fall out after one of them abruptly terminates their relationship.
Farrell reunites with director Martin McDonagh and co-star Brendan Gleeson in this picture. The trio previously collaborated on the cult film In Bruges (2007).
Spielberg was selected as best director for The Fabelmans, which portrays a young kid who falls in love with filmmaking and is partially based on Spielberg himself.
In his victory speech, he noted, “I placed many obstacles in the path of this story.” “Throughout my career, I’ve shared this narrative in bits and pieces, but I’ve never had the bravery to tackle it head-on.”

“And there was a period when I thought, ‘Well, you’ve had a great run, you’ve worked with some of the best people, and then the greatest gift arrived: Everything Everywhere All at Once.”
Jennifer Coolidge gave one of the most memorable acceptance speeches. Delighting the crowd for nearly four minutes after winning a TV acting award for The White Lotus. Which was also awarded the best-limited television series.

Coolidge hailed the show’s creator, Mike White, for giving him “hope and a fresh start.”
Austin Butler, for his portrayal of singer Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s biography, was deemed the greatest actor in a dramatic picture, despite fierce opposition.
“I owe this to a courageous, creative filmmaker who allowed me to take risks with the knowledge that I would be supported. Baz Luhrmann, I love you,” Butler remarked. “Last but not least, Elvis Presley himself. You were both a symbol and a renegade.”

Quan, who co-starred with Harrison Ford as a boy in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, directed by Steven Spielberg, felt emotional when he won the award for outstanding supporting actor.
I was raised to always remember where I came from and who gave me my first chance. “I’m thrilled to have Steven Spielberg here tonight,” he exclaimed.
Eddie Murphy, in his acceptance speech for the coveted Cecil B. DeMille award, one of the Golden Globes’ exceptional achievement honors, referred to the Oscars slap when offering advice to younger actors.

The US comedian’s opening speech
“I’ll tell you why I’m here, I’m here because I’m black,” said the ceremony’s first-time host Jerrod Carmichael. Alluding to the lack of diversity within the Globes’ voting body, which was revealed in 2021.
The US comedian’s opening speech was clunky and lacked jokes. Carmichael spent the majority of his time begging the audience to keep quiet. His performance, though, became more assured as the show progressed.
Others viewed his jokes as vulgar or lacking in good taste.
Carmichael referred to the Beverly Hilton as “the hotel that killed Whitney Houston” about the ceremony being conducted there. He addressed several celebrities straight from the platform. Asking Rihanna to disregard public pressure and take her time producing her upcoming album.
He offered that Tom Cruise’s three Golden Globes be “exchanged for the safe return of Shelly Miscavige”. A reference to David Miscavige’s wife, who has not been seen in public since 2007.
Carmichael recalled Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars and stated that the actor had received. “The Rock Hudson award for finest portrayal of machismo on television.”
