The entertainer of the world for more than 50 years stated that performing at Glastonbury on Sunday evening “could not be a more perfect ending.”

After months of touring, this is the final opportunity to see legendary musician Sir Elton John perform live in the United Kingdom.

With his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, the Rocketman hangs up his hat (but presumably not his large glasses). As a result of some rescheduled performances during the pandemic, this tour now concludes in Sweden in July, but the star’s final performance on home soil takes place tonight at the Glastonbury Festival.

Sir Elton is one of the world’s best-selling artists, with 32 studio albums, 10 number ones, and over 300 million record sales, yet he has never performed at the renowned festival. His closing performance on the Pyramid stage will be his first and only opportunity to experience the 100,000-strong audience, which so many performers who have performed there before him have described as “unique.”

Sir Elton has stated in interviews that performing at Glastonbury “could not be a more perfect ending.”

It is difficult to fathom how a performer who has entertained the world for more than 50 years will retire from the stage, but what a stage to leave on.

So, will this truly be the conclusion?

Tom Smith, the music commissioning editor for the NME, says that despite widespread rumors that the performer may not be able to resist a reappearance in the future, it appears that this could be his last live performance.

“There has always been an element of ‘will he or won’t he? , but he seems pretty certain that this will be his final UK performance,” he told. “The way he’s gone about it prepared for the show, and discussed all the new bands he wants to celebrate in his career, you know, this long tour that he’s been on, it does feel like it could be it.”

However, David Furnish, Sir Elton’s spouse, told before the festival that this is not the end of his musical career.

“I don’t think he’ll be sitting on the sofa with a remote control,” Furnish stated. In October, he will return to the studio to begin recording his next album. Which will be wonderful. He has not released a studio album in quite some time.”

We know the star intends to bring out four special guests for Glastonbury – Furnish confirmed it would be a star-studded lineup, but did not reveal any details.

The oddsmakers are offering odds on everyone from Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, and Taron Egerton of Rocketman to recent collaborators Britney Spears, Ed Sheeran, and Dua Lipa. Sir Paul McCartney, who headlined the festival last year and was observed on the side of the stage during the Foo Fighters’ surprise performance on Friday, is also a late addition to the rumors.

Additionally, Sir Elton has hinted that he will perform a different performance than on his farewell tour.

Regardless of what he sings or whom he invites out on stage, one thing is certain: he will want to go out with a bang and enter Glastonbury lore.

Tom, an NME journalist, added, “If you look at Paul McCartney’s concert last year, it was an incredible celebration of his entire career, from The Beatles to Wings to his solo work, for people of all ages.” “Elton’s repertoire and popularity among music enthusiasts are comparable. There is a possibility that in ten to fifteen years, people will say, “I was there for Elton’s big send-off.”

Rick Astley, a fellow Glastonbury first-timer who attracted a massive early crowd to the Pyramid stage on Saturday, believes that few artists have had Sir Elton’s influence.

“By naming Elton, you are naming one of the individuals who laid one of the cornerstones of music,” he said. He is one of the few men and women who have written the rulebook, the storybook, and everything else for the rest of us. There is simply nobody comparable to him.”

Alex McGuire, aged 47, who resides close to the festival site in Taunton, is looking forward to tonight’s performance.

Now attending the event for the sixteenth time, for the past five years he has created hats in honor of his favorite performers.

He says the decision for Glastonbury 2023 was simple.

“This is likely Elton’s final tour, and your last opportunity to see him. Incredibly, the Eavises were able to acquire him, he told.

Alex has recreated Sir Elton on the Pyramid stage, replete with a grand piano and rainbow-colored rockets that even light up.

“It’s going to be a legendary moment,” he said. Similar to Paul McCartney’s performance last year, this is the utmost for Glastonbury.

Sir Elton has been previewing his performance in the lead-up to the festival, even posting an Instagram photo of some flashy custom-made Wellington boots.

In one interview, he stated, “It’s just come at the right time.” “I am a firm believer in serendipity and fate, and this is the most wonderful way to leave England,” she said.
