Five years after marrying British Olympic gold medalist Daley, the American screenwriter says he is on the “hard journey back to health.”
The husband of Olympic gold medalist Tom Daley revealed that he just suffered a “severe head injury” and was urged to “shut off my brain” to recover.
Dustin Lance Black, an American screenwriter, stated that he was on the “hard road back to health” after a “difficult, frightening time.”
Black stated in an Instagram post that he and Daley, who won the diving gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, had traveled to Greece for rehabilitation.
The 48-year-old male did not disclose how he sustained the head injuries.
“A month ago, I suffered a severe head injury that rendered me unable to work,” he posted on Instagram.
“Because I was not improving, my physicians ordered me to turn off my brain in the hopes that it might recover. This has been a difficult and terrifying period for a creative type that relies on his mind to work, care for, and love.
“I now realize the road back will be arduous. This week, though, my loving, over-the-top husband took me to the Greek Islands in an attempt to make me shut down.
“I can already tell that this trip is a step in the right direction, and I finally feel safe enough to share a bit once more.
“Many thanks for your love and patience. More to come. Promise.”
Black and Daley, both 28 years old, have been married for five years and have a son.
