Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) earlier this year, and his family, including his wife Emma Heming and ex-wife Demi Moore, have expressed a desire to bring attention to the incurable disease.
Bruce Willis commemorated his 68th birthday with a cake and a song, surrounded by his family. After it was revealed earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
A video shared by his ex-wife Demi Moore showed the Hollywood icon singing “Happy Birthday” while surrounded by his daughters, Moore, and his current wife Emma Heming, and then blowing out two candles on an apple pie.
In March 2022, the Hollywood star’s family revealed that he would “step away” from his successful career due to aphasia.
Moore, 60 years old, commented on the Instagram photo: “Happy birthday, BW! We are delighted to honor you today. And we adore you and our family.
“We appreciate the love and warm wishes from everyone; we all feel them.”
Heming, 44, also shared an emotional Instagram post in which she described the “sadness” and “grief” she experienced as a dementia caregiver, adding, “I’m feeling it today on his birthday.”
As she concluded the brief video, she became emotional as she thanked fans for their support, saying. “As much as I do it for myself, I do it for you because I know how much you all love my husband.”
Willis has starred in more than 100 films over four decades, including box office successes such as Pulp Fiction, 12 Monkeys, and The Sixth Sense, which have earned him a global fan base.
Heming also shared videos and photographs of Willis spending time with his family and interacting with his children.
She wrote in the caption, “He is pure affection. He is so cherished. And I will love him forever. Happy birthday, sweetheart!
Bruce’s sensitive Pisces soul will appreciate your thoughts and wishes on his birthday.
“Many thanks for loving and caring for him as well.”
Willis shares his three eldest daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, with Moore, whom he wed in 1987, and his two youngest daughters, Mabel and Evelyn, with Heming, whom he wed in 2009.
Willis and Moore split in 2000, but their relationship remains amicable.
Rumer celebrated her father’s birthday by uploading a video of everyone singing “Happy Birthday” with the caption. “Happy Birthday, Daddio!” I adore you infinitely. You are so awesome!”

According to the Association of Frontotemporal Deterioration, FTD is a degenerative brain disorder characterized by degeneration of the frontal and/or temporal lobes. (AFTD).
The most common presenting symptoms include uncharacteristic personality changes, apathy, and unexplained difficulties with decision-making, speaking, and language comprehension.
Currently, there are no treatments for FTD.
