1975 will headline the Reading and Leeds festivals after Rage Against The Machine’s leader was forced to withdraw due to a medical issue.
The American band canceled their European tour on Thursday, two weeks before headlining the twin UK festivals and performing in Edinburgh.
According to a statement, Zack de la Rocha was following “medical advice.”
The 52-year-old singer suffered a leg injury on stage in Chicago in July, however, the nature of the injury was not specified.
Since 2020, Matty Healy, George Daniel, Adam Hann, and Ross MacDonald have not performed live in the United Kingdom.
Due to the uncertainties surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, the band, who last performed in Reading and Leeds in 2019, previously canceled their 2021 live appearances.
In the United Kingdom, all four of the 1975’s albums debuted at number one. The fifth album is scheduled for release later this year.
Rage Against the Machine, famous for their anti-authority hymn Killing in the Name from 1993, resumed their US tour with de la Rocha playing sitting and will play three more performances in New York this week.

The band was initially scheduled to headline Reading and Leeds in 2020, but the performance was canceled due to Covid.
The organizers of the festival have not yet announced a successor. The Arctic Monkeys and Dave are the headliners for the remaining days of the August 26-28 event.
Additionally, Rage Against the Machine has canceled shows in France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Poland, Croatia, and the Czech Republic.
