The 82-year-old actor Duggie Brown, who appeared in Coronation Street and Last of the Summer Wine, has passed away.
Mr. Brown, who was born in Rotherham, rose to prominence in Ken Loach’s 1969 adaptation of Barry Hines’ novel Kes.
Mr. Brown, according to his manager Lee Morgan, passed away on Tuesday morning with his wife Jackie by his side.
In addition to his role as Ted Spear on Coronation Street, he also starred in The Comedians and The Wheeltappers And Shunters Social Club.
Mr. Morgan’s tweet reads: “It was an honor to have worked with Duggie. A natural entertainer who cherished his career. God rest Duggie Brown We love & salute you.”
He was the brother of actress Lynne Perrie, who played Ivy Tilsley on Coronation Street for 15 years and passed away in 2006.
Mr. Brown was inducted into the Grand Order of Water Rats philanthropic organization in 2020, at which time he assumed the title of King Rat.
