The chief operating officer of EasyJet has resigned following a string of flight cancellations and disruptions at the airline over the past few weeks.

Peter Bellew, according to the airline, resigned “to pursue other business opportunities.”

The chief executive officer of EasyJet, Johan Lundgren, stated, “I’d like to thank Peter for his hard work and wish him well.

Everyone at EasyJet remains utterly committed to providing a safe and dependable operation throughout the summer.

Thousands of jobs were lost in the aviation industry during the Covid pandemic, and the industry is now struggling to meet the increased demand for travel.

This summer, EasyJet has already been forced to cancel tens of thousands of flights due to staffing shortages at Gatwick.

The labor union Unite claimed last month that EasyJet lacked leadership and that Mr. Bellew should “take charge of the situation.”
