Image Sparks Controversy
Tony Fernandes, the CEO of AirAsia, has been criticised for posting an image of himself attending a management meeting while receiving a massage without a shirt.
Fernandes’ Statement
The entrepreneur stated in a LinkedIn post, which has since been removed, that the previous week had been “stressful.”
“Got to love Indonesia and AirAsia culture that I can have a massage and conduct a management meeting,” he concluded.
For a comment, AirAsia has been contacted.
Diverse Reactions on Social Media
Social media was engulfed in controversy over the image, with numerous users criticising Mr. Fernandes for posting it.
One user described it as “absurd and inappropriate,” while another called it “unprofessional.”
“Don’t miss out! Grab your free shares of Webull UK today!”
“He should set an example of good work ethics and culture, not flaunt his body and privilege,” according to the individual.
Another individual remarked, “Some CEOs should avoid LinkedIn.”
Others, however, were more favourable, stating that it exemplified how “working from home” should consistently be conducted.
Mr. Fernandes, aged 59, has been compared to Richard Branson of Malaysia.
In 2001, Mr. Fernandes, who attended Epsom College, a prestigious fee-paying institution in Britain, acquired AirAsia from the Malaysian government for a penny.
Prior to July of this year, he held the position of majority proprietor at Queens Park Rangers Football Club and was the founder of the former Caterham F1 Formula One team.
