DeepState, a Ukrainian battlefield research website affiliated with Ukraine’s defense ministry, claims the prisoners of war were killed on October 10 in the Russian area of Kursk, where Kyiv launched its assault in August.

Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman has encouraged international bodies to respond.

Dmytro Lubinets said on Telegram that he wrote letters to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross about the accusation, calling it “another crime committed by the Russians.”

Earlier this month, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office said that Russian troops had executed 16 captured Ukrainian soldiers in the partially seized Donetsk region.

There has yet to be a quick response from Russian officials.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Sunday that its air defenses had shot down 31 of Russia’s 68 drones launched at Ukraine overnight in Kyiv, Poltava, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Cherkasy.

It added that 36 more drones were “lost” in various places, most likely due to electronic jamming.

According to the Air Force, ballistic missiles hit Odesa and Poltava, while a guided air missile attacked Chernihiv and Sumy. Local officials did not record any casualties or damage.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Sunday that Russia has launched over 900 guided aircraft bombs, more than 40 missiles, and 400 drones on Ukraine in the last week.
