  • TWR unveils V12 Super-GT Supercat, based on iconic Jaguar XJS
  • Limited-run production with 600 horsepower, manual transmission, and analog driving experience
  • Order books open with £10,000 deposit; deliveries expected in late 2024

TWR, a racing legend from Rebord, has unveiled its first road car of the twenty-first century today; it is certain to attract the attention of classic Jaguar enthusiasts with substantial pockets.

The V12 Super-GT Supercat, which will be constructed upon the same framework as the legendary Jaguar XJS, will infuse high-performance road vehicles with the legacy of the ’80s and ’90s dominant Tom Walkinshaw Racing team.

The unveil occurs before the tangible summer launch; order books are now open, but purchasers will need to be financially prepared: the base price for the limited-run production vehicle is £225,000.

John Kane and Fergus Walkinshaw (the progeny of eponymous originator Tom Walkinshaw) are reviving TWR as a manufacturer of custom high-performance automobiles.

The TWR Supercat is a legendary XJS platform-based supercharged V12-powered Super-GT with 600 horsepower.

Weight-saving materials, a six-speed manual transmission, and extensive calibration will all contribute to the TWR’s status quo, resulting in an analog driving experience that is unlike any other.

The partnership between TWR and the XJS dates back to victories at the renowned Spa racetrack in Belgium and Bathurst in Australia; the two have triumphed in some of the most arduous motorsport environments on the planet.

During its height, TWR dominated the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) with the Rover Vitesse and Volvo 850 and won Le Mans with Jaguar’s XJR-9.

A new generation of road cars will be introduced by one of the most illustrious and renowned manufacturers of motorsport and performance vehicles with the Supercat.

Fergus Walkinshaw, director and founder, stated, “We are pleased to unveil the design of TWR’s debut product after more than two years of exhaustive design, engineering, and development work.

“A true drivers’ Super-GT constructed from the underpinnings of the legendary Jaguar XJS and appropriately dubbed the Supercat” is the result.

As this exceptional vehicle enters its 50th year, our mission to produce automobiles that live up to TWR’s winning heritage is accomplished with this audacious manifestation of the breed.

The Supercat, which was conceived by Design Lead Khyzyl Saleem and Design Consultant Magnus Walker, a renowned Porsche 911 collector, features a weight-reducing and drag-minimizing sculpted silhouette made of carbon fiber. This silhouette also provides the XJS with its instantly recognizable profile, flying buttresses, and front graphics.

The brand claims that this robust interpretation of the XJS “exemplifies TWR’s unambiguous vision to provide a dynamic Super-GT that is compatible with both road and track conditions.”

The outcome is a more aggressive overall aesthetic that pays homage to TWR’s Jaguar heritage through references to the Jaguar XJ220, XJR-9, and XJR-15.

TWR confirms that the vehicle’s interior will be completely redesigned when it is unveiled this summer.

“Unlock your financial potential with free Webull shares in the UK.”

The order books for the Supercat are now officially open, and to reserve a build date, clients must place a refundable deposit of £10,000.

The 88-run production will provide customers with “complete freedom for customization,” in keeping with the distinctive characteristics of each design.

The base price (excluding local taxes) will be £225,000; however, anticipate paying more for customized options.

Along with the United States, the Supercat will be offered in key international markets and the United Kingdom. The fortunate 88 new proprietors will receive their initial shipments during the final quarter of 2024.

A London flotation by Chinese online titan Shein will bolster FTSE 100
