Overnight, troops and tanks crossed the northern Gaza frontier, as confirmed by the Israeli military. The aim of the most extensive assault in this conflict to date was to “prepare the battlefield” ahead of a scheduled full-scale ground invasion.

Large Incursion in Northern Gaza

During the night, Israel deployed tanks and soldiers to northern Gaza, described by the Israeli military as the “most substantial incursion” in the conflict with Hamas so far.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced that they targeted several military sites in a short ground assault.

According to the IDF, the purpose of this assault was to “prepare the battlefield” ahead of a full-scale ground incursion into the territory controlled by Hamas in Palestine.

Video Footage and Drone Strikes

The IDF released a video claiming to depict the exact moment their forces entered Gaza in preparation for the assault. The video shows a line of vehicles crossing the border and launching rockets.

Furthermore, IDF drone footage uploaded to X/Twitter seemed to depict missiles destroying structures and hitting targets.

In a “targeted raid” in northern Gaza, the ground forces of the Givati Brigade infantry and armoured vehicles spearheaded the “relatively substantial” incursion.

It is thought that all personnel have departed the area and no casualties have been reported.

Israel’s Army Radio called it the worst infiltration since militants invaded southern Israel on October 7.

According to a spokesperson, Israeli warplanes targeted over 250 Hamas locations in Gaza in the last twenty-four hours.

Tunnel entrances, operating headquarters, and civilian rocket launchers were targeted, according to Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.

“Hamas militants are all facing a dire fate.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the nation is preparing for a full-scale ground invasion, and that the military has already eliminated tens of thousands of terrorists.

On Wednesday night from Tel Aviv, he said, “All Hamas militants face an inevitable fate,” adding that Israel had 24/7 security.

Government’s Strategic Planning

However, he chose not to divulge details regarding the “considerations” behind the ground offensive, stating that their nature “should remain” undisclosed to the public.

In his televised address to the nation, Mr. Netanyahu further emphasized, “I want to make it absolutely clear that the planning of IDF operations is determined jointly by the war cabinet and the chief of the general staff.

“We aim to ensure the most favorable conditions for their upcoming operations.”

The Prime Minister urged Israelis to “never forget, even for a moment,” the lives lost in the Hamas attacks and announced that a national day of mourning will be observed in their honor.

He continued, “It feels like thousands of arrows are piercing our wounded hearts. My responsibility is to lead this nation and its citizens to a resounding victory over our adversaries. We will fight together, and we will triumph together.”

Moreover, he advised individuals to evacuate to the southern part of Gaza.

The crisis escalates as the IDF prepares to launch an invasion.

Israel has been carrying out devastating airstrikes for over two weeks while deploying troops along the border.

Since the beginning of hostilities, Palestinian militants have fired missile barrages towards Israel.

Concerns of Escalation

Israel accuses Hamas of operating in civilian areas in densely populated Gaza and claims just militant targets.
