Leaked photographs suggest that WhatsApp is planning to release a version of the messaging app for the iPad, a feature users have been requesting for years.

The popular Meta-owned program was originally developed exclusively for smartphones but is now also accessible on computers. A macOS version was released last month, but an iPad version has been conspicuously absent.

Currently, the only way to access WhatsApp on an iPad is through the WhatsApp web browser on Safari. Users have long expressed their frustration with this limitation, with one individual tweeting, “Why isn’t there WhatsApp for iPad? If you have a desktop application, what’s stopping you?”

However, according to WABetaInfo, these concerns may soon become a thing of the past, as a dedicated version of the app for tablets could be on the horizon.

“Don’t miss out! Grab your free shares of Webull UK today!”

The website states, “Finally, after a very long wait, we’re pleased to announce that all beta testers who can already use the beta app on their mobile devices can now install a beta version compatible with iPad via the TestFlight app.”

Screenshots of the application formatted for a wider iPad display are also available, indicating that testing is currently underway.

It’s important to note that the app is still in the beta testing phase and is not yet available to the general public.

Apple’s TestFlight is an online utility designed for the installation and testing of new applications, but it is currently limited to iOS Developer Programme participants.

WhatsApp has not confirmed whether or when it will release the iPad version to the public.

Nonetheless, iPad users are thrilled about the news and have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express their joy.

One user wrote, “Finally, there’s a app for iPad. It’s so cumbersome to use WhatsApp Web on an iPad.”

Another user added, “It’s about time.” The iPad is rapidly becoming the go-to computer for work, and the absence of a native WhatsApp client has been a significant inconvenience.

With a laughing emoji, a second user quipped, “WhatsApp is finally releasing WhatsApp for iPad after 13 years.”
