The 21-year-old former soldier was reportedly apprehended four days later following an extensive manhunt.

Daniel Khalife, a terror suspect, has denied escaping from Wandsworth prison.

The former soldier, age 21, is accused of escaping the Category B prison on September 6 in the morning.

He was allegedly working in the prison kitchen and donning a cook’s uniform when he used bedsheets to secure himself beneath a food truck and escape.

Khalife was allegedly apprehended on a canal towpath on September 9 after a plainclothes officer dismounted him from a bicycle.

Today, he appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from the Category A Belmarsh prison, where he sat at a desk while donning a yellow and blue jumper.

Khalife, a former member of the Royal Signals who was stationed at Beacon Barracks in Stafford, spoke to affirm his identity and date of birth before pleading not guilty to one count of escape.

At the time of the alleged offense, he was awaiting prosecution on three charges while on remand at HMP Wandsworth.

He is accused of leaving fake explosives at a military base, a violation of the Terrorism Act, and of committing “an act prejudicial to the safety or interests of the state” under the Official Secrets Act.

Khalife was discharged from the army in May and rejected the charges through videolink at the Old Bailey in July.

Mr. Justice Baker accused Khalife of escape and ordered a four-week Woolwich Crown Court trial starting on November 13.

He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on October 13 at the Old Bailey.
