After heavy rain transformed the campsite into a mud pit, festivalgoers were instructed to preserve their food and water supplies.

The weather has been so terrible that access to and from the event in the US state of Nevada has been “stopped,” according to a statement from the event’s organizers.

Saturday, US media reported that over 71,000 individuals were stranded there.

The annual festival in the Black Rock Desert is one of the most well-known cultural events in the United States.

Social media footage depicts attendees laboring to navigate muddy paths.

Except for emergency services, no transportation is permitted until the playa surface dries out, as stated by the organizers.

“Participants are encouraged to conserve food, water, and fuel, and to seek shelter in a warm, secure location,” they added.

Before the festival began on the 27th of August, the remnants of Hurricane Hilary forced organizers to close the gates to early arrivals.

Now, after a night of nonstop rain, this enormous festival is covered in muck – the day before people were scheduled to depart.

Given the prospect of additional precipitation tonight, it could be several days before the ground is sufficiently dry for vehicles to depart.

Typically, the event features enormous interactive art installations and a massive wooden figure that is burned after the event.

A festivalgoer said most events have been cancelled since they take place on the playa, where access is limited.

Another festival-goer reported that the “weekend warriors” who typically attend only on weekends were not present this year.

Anatoly, who declined to disclose his last name, is attending the festival with his daughter for the second consecutive year.

In the typically hot and dry desert, they expected dust storms but got torrential rain.

“Everyone is safe, but there is a degree of uncertainty,” Anatoly said, because “some people’s tents got flooded” and “signal [across the camp] is the issue; we can’t communicate with anyone”.

The two individuals stated that portable restrooms cannot be emptied due to weather conditions.

They stated that they were allowing tent owners to use the campervan facilities.

Despite this, many individuals are making the best of the situation by dancing in the mire to techno music.

Shervin Natan, a festival-goer, stated that despite the muddy conditions, “the party is continuing as usual.”

“There are worse conditions than this, and everyone is helping each other out; that’s what Burning Man is all about,” he added.

Burning Man’s tagline is “radical self-reliance,” but few regular guests remember how it is being tested.

Larry Harvey and Jerry Goodell created Burning Man in June 1986 when they torched a wooden man on Baker Beach in San Francisco to commemorate the summer solstice.

In 1990, it was first conducted in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.

Festival-goers are sometimes required to undergo an interview and demonstrate their commitment to a camp’s ideals to gain entry.

Some organizations plan their camp, artwork, and theme for an entire year. This year, however, there were weather concerns, and tickets were being traded at a discount on the secondary market.
